Biography - Vocalist
SopranoI am a classical singer with a lyrical soprano voice. I enjoy singing Lieder and have a vast repertoire of Scandinavian songs and contemporary music. I graduated from Turku Music Academy in Finland with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Pedagogy in 2006 and continued my studies at the Stockholm Opera Studio in Sweden with professor Dorothy Irving. During the academic year 2013-14, I completed a Master’s degree in vocal studies and music pedagogy at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki.
Opera
I have sung opera roles at the Stockholm Opera Studio (e.g. Marschallin in Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier and Vitellia in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito) and performed contemporary opera in Finland (main role in the chamber opera Tahdon by Pauliina Isomäki). In the spring 2014, I sang in the production of the Baroque opera Anancréon by Rameau in Helsinki.
Lieder and Nordic music
I collaborate with the pianist Tuuli Lempa on a regular basis and we have given recitals in the Nordic countries. We have performed especially Scandinavian and contemporary music and also premiered works by the Norwegian composer Karstein Djupdal.
As a performer a contact with the audience is important to me. In my work, I try to develop ways of making the classical concerts more approachable, yet maintaining the high artistic standard. I have worked together with, for example, the theater director Emma Puikkonen and experimented with adding new elements to a Lieder concert.
Choral
The past three years I have worked actively as a professional choir singer. I sing with the chamber choir Key Ensemble and have sung in the Savonlinnan Operafestival Choir as well as the Sibelius Academy Vocal Ensemble.
